WSSL 2012 Week 5 Round Up

Overview

With a 6-0 defeat of Fivercide this week, the Studs are Conference champions for a third consecutive year. The Warriors’ defeat of WhoreFC means the franchises will meet each other twice in the quarter finals and it will be intriguing to see how Freddie Rowe and Will Skjott marshal their resources.

The Desperados are Conference B champions, and credit must go to their skipper Anthony Theodossi for rotating his players and giving Superleague opportunities to Alex Rattan, Ali Leighton, Chris Debonnaire and Will Stead. One or more of these young prospects may get a run-out in the quarter-final against Fivercide.

Lia Redmond has had her wings clipped for the past two weeks as Westway have unleashed their big guns on the competition. She now holds a slender one-point advantage in the MVP race and the breakaway leader is in danger of being swallowed up by the peloton over the closing weeks.

Despite the Week 5 presence of reigning Hand Seb Cooley, his fellow Whore, Simon Warren-Thomas was Golden Glove of the week with three bullseyes. Overall, Will Betts has stretched his lead at the top and is favoured by many to stay there.
