19/05/22: After a two year gap, the Westway Summer Superleague 2022 opened up its first round of fixtures this week.
This year's competition will see six teams - Aston House Thoroughbreds, Aston House Stampede, Newbury HA1, Westway Warriors, Emanuel Wanderers and Highgate - battle it out in a round robin format to decide the placings for the play-offs in a few weeks time.
Week One saw the two Aston House teams canter to full point wins over the two tournament newcomers, while Highgate scored a narrow 4-2 triumph over the tournament hosts. Adam Field of the Westway Warriors took an early lead in the Golden Gloves race, with three winners in the hole, with Riki Houlden and Noah Caplin hot on his heels with two each.
All runners and riders will be back in action next week for the second round of matches.
