Tasty Whore d'oeuvres for Studs
WHOREFC found their heads in a spin back at Super League HQ on Wednesday night. Just off the plane from a successful tour of Provence, the Windsor & Eton outfit looked a little undercooked for a tough encounter with shire rivals, the Studs. Despite missing their marquee player, Seb Cooley, WHOREFC still fielded the strong quartet of Harry Turnbull, Jurgen Hutter, Johnny Saunders and Karl Wagner, and in the first rotation of matches it was really just the rub of the green that saw the Studs’ race to a 2-0 lead. Jeremy Hindle and Justin Shaw were outstanding in the third match to claim a runaway 15-3 victory over Turnbull and Wagner, but the going in Match 4 was much tougher for Robert Wilson (making his Stud debut) and Spencer Chapman against Hutter and Saunders. WHOREFC took the early honours to ease to a 5-1 lead, before trading points to 9 all. Some superb cutting from Rob Wilson deprived the Whores of any real point-scoring opportunities thereafter and the Studs were able to close out the game at 15-10. The third rotation saw more strong performances from Stud thoroughbreds Wilson & Hindle (15-7 against Turnbull and Hutter), and a workmanlike display from Shaw & Chapman to secure the sixth point for the boys in blue.

Wildcats strike
In the parallel match played on the Westway show courts, WHOREFC were resplendent in their livery of purple tops and thigh-length yellow and pink socks. Nick Bunyan led the line, ably supported by his lycra, and team mates, Simon Warren-Thomas, Sam Basu and WHORE chef d’equipe, Will Skjott. Up against them were the youthful local Wildcats, Will Betts, Dave Leach, and Dom and Lia Redmond. Betts and Leach each paired up successfully with one of the reigning ladies champions to clinch a 2-0 lead before Leach and Redmond snr made it three nil with a convincing victory over Bunyan and Skjott. The fourth match was a lot tighter and Betts and the in-form Lia had to pull out all the stops to topple Warren-Thomas and Basu 15-13. The third rotation saw the Wildcats purr into top gear as Betts and Leach eased home in the top match of the rubber, leaving the Redmond sisters to clinch the Westwash with a hard-fought success over Basu and Skjott.
