07/03/23: St.Olave's School won the Williams Cup for the first time since 2018 with a strong team performance at Eton yesterday.

The Williams Cup is the three pair team competition for senior school players and five teams battled it out for this year's title - two teams from St.Olave's, Eton, Shrewsbury and Ipswich, whose B team were simultaneously playing in the Vargas Salver at Aldenham, an impressive achievement in itself.

The Ipswich A team were competitive throughout and managed to get the better of the St.Olave's second string; Eton overcame Shrewsbury, who finished third after winning in 2022. and the home team pushed the St.Olave's A team hard, especially at first pair. The Olavian team had the edge throughout, however, and fully deserved their victory, which was achieved at the same time as the Old Olavians were winning the Alan Barber Cup on the neighbouring courts.
