14/03/18: Eton retained the Hughes Cup yesterday with a 2-1 victory on the Eton courts against Highgate in this year's final.
Fittingly in his final year as coach at Eton, Mike Hughes's team won the trophy that bears his name by beating Highgate 2-1, winning at first and second pairs. The competition is the U15 schools three pair team tournament and was first competed for in 2017. Eton and Highgate reached this season's final with semi-final wins over St.Olave's and Harrow respectively after those four teams had qualified from the group stages earlier in the year. There was a particularly noteworthy achievement from Eton's Milo Russell, who achieved the distinction of playing in winning teams in both the Williams Cup (for senior teams) and the Hughes Cup (for Under 15s) in the same season.
