Fit for Fives

Would you like to take part in an exciting FiveStar project? Would you like to learn about how playing Eton Fives can improve your health?

Players of varying age and experience took part in a series of games while wearing fitness tracking devices. Various metrics were recorded, including resting, average and peak heart rate, steps and calories burned.

The results were interesting, but the headline figures show that:

  • One can burn up to 500 calories per set, or 2500 per match
  • On average, one can take over 10,000 steps playing a game of Fives
  • Average heart rate during a game of Fives is raised to a level (between 55-75% of maximum heart rate) that allows for moderate to high levels of fat burning

Further data collection and analysis needs to be undertaken, however the initial results prove Fives has huge health benefits alongside being fun and played by a vibrant welcoming community.
