17/06/21: Communities in the Kensington & Chelsea area of London are set to benefit from new outreach sport & physical activities, as the Eton Fives Association has received a £2,500 grant from The Jesters Club.
The grant will enable the EFA to further its ambition of making the game of fives more accessible in North Kensington, an area in the top 10% most deprived boroughs in the UK.
The Jesters Club is an invitation-only intern/national club for men and women who play one or more of the games of Squash, Real Tennis, Rackets, Rugby Fives, Eton Fives and Padel. With over 3000 members worldwide, the Jesters Club is centred in the United Kingdom and has intern/national branches in the USA, Canada, South Africa and Australia.
Alex Knight, Head of Development at the Eton Fives Association, said: “The Eton Fives Association has engaged with local schools, community groups, and charities, attracting around 5000 children, young people and adults to our community facility at Westway in the last 12 months alone. We’re delighted that, in awarding this grant, The Jesters Club is helping the EFA to deliver even more services for local people, and helping to spread the many benefits of fives to physical and mental wellbeing.”
The generous donation from The Jesters Club will support fives outreach activities during the rest of 2021, enabling the EFA to increase participation at Westway Sports & Fitness Centre and to create further partnership opportunities with local schools and charities based in Kensington & Chelsea.
